Sunday Hike: Discover the Kennemerduinen Trail

Let’s enjoy a Sunday hike together through one of the most beautiful dune landscapes in the Netherlands! It’s not for nothing that this area is a National Park. 🤩

We’ll follow the NS-wandeling Kennemerduinen, a 16 km trail starting at Santpoort Noord and ending at Overveen. The route leads us through quiet forests, wide-open dunes, the beach, and past peaceful dune lakes — a perfect mix of scenery and space to enjoy nature.

Along the way, we’ll pass several scenic spots, and there are a few places to stop for a drink, use the toilet, or just take a relaxed break. If the group feels like it, we can finish the walk with a drink together in Overveen.

🕘 Meet-up Time: 10:30 AM (train from Amsterdam/Haarlem arrives at 10:25)
🤝 Meet-up Place: In front of Santpoort Noord Station (it’s small — we can’t miss each other)
🏁 Finish: Overveen Station
🕓 Walking Time: About 4 to 4.5 hours (including breaks)
🥪 Bring: Water, lunch or snacks, good walking shoes (some sandy paths), and a rain jacket — we are in the Netherlands, after all 😉 (Though the forecast looks perfect!)
🚫 Don’t bring: Dogs or other pets — they’re not allowed in this National Park.

💡 Getting there:
Santpoort Noord is easy to reach by direct train from Hoorn and Alkmaar, and also from Amsterdam Centraal, Sloterdijk, and Haarlem. Overveen Station is also well connected for heading home.

This is a great walk to shed some stress, get moving, and meet other friendly hikers in a relaxed and social way. It’s a social hike, not a sports event — so we’ll keep a steady, comfortable pace and take breaks, but it’s not a slow stroll either. If you’re happy walking for a few hours with short pauses, you’ll be just fine. Whether you’re new to hiking or just love being outdoors, you’re very welcome to join!
