An adaptation of Karakter (Character), the classic novel by Ferdinand Bordewijk about the clash between bailiff Dreverhaven and his illegitimate son Katadreuffe. Van Diem’s directorial debut won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1998.

Admission is by reservation at eyefilm.nl. A reservation guarantees you a seat. You will be given a chair and a set of headphones – you cannot bring your own chair. If the weather is bad, EYE will take the decision on the day itself on whether the screening can go ahead. They will send out a mailing to those who have made reservations.
