There is a growing need to expand how we think about neurodiversity and DEI in professional spaces. Borderline Personality Disorder—and other personality, mood, and trauma-related conditions—are already present within our communities, relationships, and workplaces. Yet they are often left out of the broader neurodiversity conversation due to stigma, not science.
To put this into perspective:

  • Around 10% of the population is diagnosed with a personality disorder, and we know this significantly underrepresents true prevalence
  • 70% of individuals with ASD have at least one additional psychiatric condition, and 40% have two or more
  • There is no scientific basis for excluding personality disorders from the neurodiversity framework, both ASD, ADHD, Borderline, Bipolar and others all come from a combination of genetics, biology, and environemnt

For organizations and networks centered on leadership, people development, and inclusive culture, this is an opportunity to lead an important and often overlooked conversation.
