This meetup is for anyone interested in data modelling, data infrastructure, SQL, devops, and anything that happens at an analytics engineering department.

We will predominantly focus on people's experience with dbt, but all skill levels are welcome.

Schedule:
17:30 – 🍕 Pizza.
18:15 – 🎤 Managing data consumers at scale with dbt exposures.
18:45 – ⏸️ Break.
19:00 – 🎤 Hyper-scaling Analytics.

Managing data consumers at scale with dbt exposures:
Guillermo Sanchez | Analytics Engineering Tech Lead at GoDataDriven.

Are your consumers able to create dashboards on a self-service basis? Do you already have applications that consume prepared datasets from your data warehouse? Maybe ML models as well? If the answer to any of these questions is “yes”, then you are probably starting to feel the the pains of having so many data consumers. Problems like who to notify if a pipeline fails and which tables should be treated as critical will sound familiar. In this talk I will discuss this problem and how you can tackle it by using dbt exposures. Moreover, I will briefly touch upon a tool that we are building in our free time at GDD that tries to automate the process of creating dbt exposures.

Hyper-scaling Analytics.
Felipe Leite & Stephen Pastan | Analytics Engineers at Miro.

This session should be a great resource for any team or company that is in the process of, or considering, scaling the modern data stack. More specifically, we’ll focus on highlighting the challenges that can come with that, and what solutions worked for us in Miro. We’ll cover what are the absolute key features we rely on to support a fast scaling data organization.
