Tell Me Wine #6 – A Sparkling Restart: An Evening with Hidden Gems of Champagne

Details
📍 Leiden | 🗓️ Friday, September 5th – 19:00 | 💶 €40 per person
After a well-deserved summer break, we’re back with a bang – or better, with a pop! 🍾 The 6th edition of Tell Me Wine is the perfect way to start the season: a deep dive into the world of Champagne, far away from the big brands and into the heart of artisanal, family-run wineries.
Champagne has always been synonymous with celebration, but beyond the prestige names and glossy labels lies a world of small producers, passionate winemakers, and terroirs brimming with character and history. This evening, we’ll discover that world together.
For this tasting, I have selected three exceptional vignerons, each with their own story, philosophy, and unique approach to crafting Champagne.
These are wines rarely found outside France – bottles made in tiny quantities, shaped by the chalky soils, the unique microclimates, and the meticulous hands of people who live and breathe their vineyards.
You’ll experience at least 12 bottles, each revealing a different facet of Champagne:
- Fresh and mineral-driven Blanc de Blancs
- Complex and layered cuvées aged for years in cellars carved into chalk
- Elegant Rosé Champagnes full of finesse and fruit
- Bold, zero-dosage expressions that strip the wine down to its purest form
To complete this journey, we’ll pair the wines with regional delicacies straight from Champagne, offering a true synesthetic experience that connects what’s in the glass with the culture and land it comes from.
