Marck Oemar - Nationale Nederlanden - Complex pipelines for Infrastructure Development with Concourse CI
Cloud-based infrastructure makes it easy to quickly scale resources for Application Deployment. Combined with Infrastructure as Code, building, managing and provisioning systems can be done automatically through code, rather than less flexible scripting or a manual process. However, it can be a challenge to apply Continuous Integration practices to Infrastructure development.
This presentation gives insight into some of the CI/CD solutions that were implemented during the Cloud and DevOps transformation journey of Nationale Nederlanden.
By using Terraform for developing and executing Infrastructure as Code, Concourse CI for managing complex pipelines and immutable server instances, Infrastructure development becomes much easier.
Bio:
Marck Oemar is a Cloud engineer and DevOps / Continuous Delivery evangelist for Nationale Nederlanden. He is reponsible for implementing CI/CD solutions and providing Patterns for other DevOps teams. Marck has engineering experience in both small and large enterprise organisations and is passionate about Engineering Culture and tranformation.
Maarten Hoogendoorn - Packaging and deploying a microservice reference application
This talk is about declarative graph based dependency management tools, and in particular about Nix. I'll show how it can be used to package the Socks Shop, a reference microservice application, wich consists of services implemented in different languages. Then I'll go on to show how we can deploy this with Docker, ACI, plain tarball, or with Nix itself.
I'll wrap up with demoing NixOps, a tool that combines configuration management with cloud infrastructure provisioning.
Bio: Maarten Hoogendoorn is a Research Engineer at Container Solutions, where he mainly works with technology vendors. His current interests are graph based build systems, serverless / functions and self-organizing services and infrastucture.
