'Designing for Autonomy' and 'The way we teach tech'

Wednesday 6th of June, we organise our next Developer Meetup in Deventer with two speakers who will tell about:

• Designing for Autonomy by Matthias Noback
• The way we teach tech by Jeroen van der Gulik

Who’s Matthias Noback?
Matthias Noback has 15 years of experience in web application development. He is the author of A Year With Symfony, Principles of Package Design and Microservices for everyone. While always striving for better programming practices in general, he’s taken a special interest in application architecture, Domain-Driven Design, testing, microservices and application integration patterns.

The much hyped "Microservice Architecture" tells us to design our services to be autonomous. Let's find out what this means and how we can achieve it. In this talk he will guide you through the fascinating world of asynchronous communication, event-driven systems and distributed data.

Who is Jeroen van der Gulik?
Jeroen is co-founder of Isset, software architect, consultant, coach and occasional speaker. Often brought in at large companies to enable change and innovation projects. His company specializes in video streaming/transcoding and publishing platforms. Co-organizer of DDDNL and boardgames enthousiast. He also likes cats and penguins.

Starting your journey as a programmer can be daunting and overwhelming. There is so much to learn, so many contradicting sources of information, and so many different opinions about everything. Most of the time we don't get the answers we need or want, but we get vague options that don't really help us all that much. In this talk he discuss the problems we face when teaching others, the problems we face as an industry in a disparity between juniors and seniors and how we can vastly improve the way in which we teach our peers and educate our juniors.
