The session consists of two parts:
- Introduction to Data Science and Machine Learning.
- Practical Hands On with Machine Learning.
In this nlOUG session we will update you on developments in the field of Data Science & Machine Learning (ML) at Oracle.
Afterwards you will be able to work with the possibilities of ML in the Autonomous Database by means of a hands-on workshop.
We'll dwell on Oracle ML in the Oracle database. The Oracle database contains more than 30 ML algorithms that you can call via SQL, R and Python where the data can remain in the database. There you can also directly use the computational power and security of the database.
The Autonomous Database includes a notebook environment. You will work with this during the hands-on workshop.
You will also be introduced to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Data Science. This environment enables the Data Scientist to set up environments, build ML models, train and manage them. And of course, it allows you to collaborate securely with others.
Building models is facilitated by the Accelerated Data Science (ADS) library which includes Oracle's own Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) which can save the Data Scientist a lot of time building models.
Presentations and guidance will be provided by Bob Peulen.
Bob Peulen is a Cloud Engineer at Oracle with a focus on Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Before Oracle, Bob worked at Nielsen - a consultancy / market research company in food retail and GfK, market research company in the field of consumer insights.
To attend the Hands On, prior knowledge of working with notebooks and of course SQL is expected. Knowledge and experience with Python is a plus. A step-by-step plan will be used to walk through the assignments.
Maximum number of participants is 30!
Start session: 15.00 hours.
Registered participants will receive on the day:
- The link with all documents.
- A link to the Oracle Machine Learning environment.
- A personal account with password to log in.
The hands-on workshop consists of two aspects: 1) a manual with all the steps and 2) a notebook that one will use. This is also described in the steps above.
