They make up 99% of all enterprises in the EU in 2022, employ nearly 160 million people, and generate over €11.9 trillion in turnover, which represents nearly one-third of total EU turnover, according to Eurostat. Yet too often, they’re excluded from the big conversations about growth, sustainability, and innovation. Funding and policy tend to flow toward corporates and scale-ups, leaving early-stage founders and micro-businesses overlooked.
BASE is here to change that. Founded in Amsterdam, BASE is both a conference and a community designed to put small businesses, founders, and freelancers at the center of meaningful economic dialogue. Its mission is simple: to create a more circular way of doing business where I help you, you help me, and we both grow.
