Tulips Tour 2026 – Saturday, April 25th
Discover the vibrant tulip fields of the Netherlands!

This year’s Tulips Tour is a special edition of my Social Bike Tours, designed for those who want to experience the iconic Dutch tulip fields in full bloom. Whether you start in Amsterdam, Haarlem or Hillegom you’ll enjoy a day of cycling, stunning scenery and good company.

Meeting points
You can join the tour from three different starting points.

• Amsterdam CS 7:45 AM - total distance 98 km - ends 7:45 PM
• Haarlem Station 9:15 AM - total distance 56 km - ends 6:30 PM
• Hillegom Station 11:00 AM - total distance 32 km - ends 5:15 PM

Pace

• Amsterdam ↔ Haarlem: 15–20 km/h (faster pace, scenic paths to Haarlem, more direct return).
• Haarlem ↔ Hillegom: ~15 km/h.
• Hillegom Loop (tulip fields): 10–15 km/h, with photo stops

stay always on the paths, walking through the fields is strictly prohibited and risks fines or conflicts with local farmers!

Breaks

• coffee/tea and snacks at Theehuis Haarlemmerhout (2 km or 24 km).
• pancakes at Pannekoe in Lisse (after 7 km, 19 km or 41 km).
• lunch at Volière (after 22 km, 34 km or 56 km).
• please bring plenty of water and snacks since there may be stretches without shops.

Costs:
registration fee: €15 (regardless of starting point). Secure your spot now!
tip: A voluntary tip after the tour is always appreciated.

Bikes:

• bring your own bike (ensure tires are pumped and chains are smooth)
• rent an OV-fiets (requires a registered OV-chipkaart) or a bike in Haarlem (I can provide rental addresses).
• i’ll carry a bike repair kit, but basic maintenance beforehand is recommended.

What to expect:

• not a touristy tour: No scripted stories, just a relaxed ride with great people. Ask me anything about the route, geography or Dutch culture!
• participation is at your own risk. I’m not liable for accidents, damages, or lost items.
• group Size: Limited to 14 participants (first come, first served).

This tour is all about connecting with others, enjoying the countryside and soaking in the beauty of the tulip fields. Whether you’re a local, tourist or an expat, everyone is welcome.

We’re back with another Social Bike Tour this Saturday!

This time, we’ll be cycling in a northeasterly direction through Zeeburgereiland and Schellingwoude, then cut across the beautiful open fields of Landelijk Noord towards Broek in Waterland. From there, we’ll return to Amsterdam Noord via the Broekermeerpolder and along the Noordhollandsch Kanaal. At the end of the ride, we’ll have the option to wrap up with a drink at a cozy spot in Amsterdam Noord.

We’ll also stop at Landmarkt (an organic supermarket) for coffee and supplies before enjoying a picnic at Vogelmeer on our way to Broek in Waterland.

I’ll be at the starting point (Screaming Beans, Waterlooplein) by 10:00 AM and we’ll hop on our bikes around 10:30 AM to begin our adventure.

The route is about 30 kilometers, perfect for soaking up the scenery and enjoying the ride. Bring some snacks, drinks, and lunch along (or buy them at Landmarkt). We’ll have plenty of time to chat and socialize!

Just bring your regular bike. We’ll be cruising at a relaxed pace, enjoying the beauty of the countryside while keeping an eye on traffic and each other.

I expect we’ll wrap up the ride before 4:00 PM. Sometimes we’ll end the day together with a drink on a terrace and sometimes everyone heads home right away, we’ll see how things roll!

Since I cover costs for my Meetup membership, spend time planning the routes and just want to keep my bike hobby rolling, I ask for a small contribution of €5 to join (usually via Tikkie). Of course, you’ll get a refund if the tour gets canceled for any reason.
