Details

Save the date: Thursday 13th of March 2025!
We will host our second full-stack event @ Sopra Steria Groningen office: Full-stack Winter Sessions!

This event hosts a wide range of speakers and subjects, there will be food and drinks and time to meet and catch up. We will host two speakers per time slot.

Keynote: Sander Hoogendoorn
Sander will kick-off the event by sharing his view on Cloud-Native development and the challenges ahead of us in a post-agile world!
Meet Sander Hoogendoorn, an independent dad and traveler. A seasoned developer with over four decades of experience who still writes code daily, Sander has survived in the tech world in various roles, from CTO of companies like iBOOD (currently), ANVA, and Klaverblad to being Capgemini's global agile thought leader.
Known for his post-agile mindset and provocative perspectives, Sander empowers organizations and teams to break free from the norm and embrace innovation. He's not just about writing code; he's about rewriting the rules.

As an author and captivating speaker, Sander has shared his ideas and practices at international conferences, covering topics from disruption, culture, and life beyond agile, to continuous delivery, microteams, software architecture, monads, microservices, and the art of writing elegant code. He believes in the power of critical thinking to solve problems and encourages teams to approach software development with a strategic, mindful touch.

Confirmed Speakers:

Ruben Scheedler - From Utopia to Reality: The Hidden Challenges of Event-Driven Architecture
Event-driven architecture seems ideal: Asynchronous, loosly coupled and scalable. But it does pose challenges, such as out-of-order messages, scheduling, versioning and interaction with legacy systems. During this talk, I'll share my own experiences and solutions, to get you ready to tame those event-driven systems!

Jan ter Schure - Blazor meets Github pages, a simple way to host your Blazor applications
How can you host a Blazor app directly from your Github repository? Github pages is a simple way to host a website directly from your repository, but how does it work if you want to host a Blazor application?During this session, we'll explore how Github pages work in general, and specifically how you can host a Blazor app by making use of Github Actions.

Jarsto van Santen - Test-code-generation dos en don'ts
During this talke, we'll dive in the question when or when not to use AI when testing. How to generate your generators, but not in the live pipeline en what does it mean for your test process when you generate from the same specs as the actual build?

Rodney Wormsbecher - From Code to Cloud: Automating Your Frontend Deployments with Terraform and Azure
Everyone who works in IT and software development has encountered this problem before. You got this legacy project and it went down yesterday. Now it’s your task to read the documentation and get it live again. Guess what? you followed all the steps but still the application is not working. Is the documentation up to date? Was there a firewall setting that’s needs to be opened up? Wait the documentation said it uses MongoDB but didn’t we work on Prisma up until now? I guess everyone who has been in this position knows what an absolute nightmare it can be to live through this.
You told yourself, I will do better and I will never let a project be out of date with it’s documentation right? We all know that’s not going happen. So how can we solve this? There is only one way, to automate the complete setup from Git repository to infrastructure to configuration and deployment.

Luckily for us, this is now possibly through a variety of tools across the development spectrum. In this talk we will make use of one of the most popular tools called Terraform. It allows us to write the infrastructure as code and run it to spin up our environment in Azure.

Bjorn Schijf - The anatomy of a Webapp
How do your favorite applications like Gmail, Reddit and Facebook actually work? Why do we need a compiler? What does an Nginx do exactly? Why do we debate between SSR and SSG?
Let us take a look at the Anatomy of a WebApp. In this talk we’ll dive into how a web application flows from its creation as code, to its deployment as an app. We’ll take a look at what your mobile phone or browser actually has to do and how all the data flows through the internet. All in service to help you: the user.

Frederieke Scheper & Peter Eijgermans - DDD Full Stack - From front to Back
Complex, data-intensive applications pose significant and difficult development challenges. Domain Driven Design (DDD) is one approach to discover and address them. And to help you build the domain model in the "right" way. When you’re looking at the heart of an application, the domain is almost everywhere. It’s bleeding from the veins in the backend through the arteries, all the way to the front-end of an application. Therefore, an incomplete or overly simplistic design of the domain model is like waiting for a heart infarction to occur. In this co-presentation, Peter and Frederieke will share an integrated approach how you can apply techniques from Domain Driven Design (DDD) to create and integrate a ubiquitous, domain centric, model that can be used across the front and back-end. Along the way, you will learn how to take advantage of the core concepts of DDD, such as Aggregates, Bounded Contexts and an Anti-Corruption Layer to define, design, and build working software. And your team-mates will love you for it.
