Lunch lecture: from Haskell to Hardware

Details

Hi there,

The following Meetup is not organized in Amsterdam. It's organized by the VORtech Meetup group in Delft. They regularly organize Meetup's about Scientific Software Engineering and also HPC. The topic is really interesting so we're happy to share this!

You can RSVP here or at the VORtech Scientific Software Engineering Meetup group: https://www.meetup.com/VORtech-Scientific-Software-Engineering/events/231266631/

Lunch lecture: from Haskell to Hardware

Now that the GPUs have become standard, FPGAs are the next step in accelerating computations for less Watts. FPGA's are however even harder to program for: it feels more like designing hardware than writing software.

The guest speaker from QBayLogic will present a solution that they have developed for this issue. The core of it is to generate a description of the hardware within a functional programming language. This description can then be reasonably close to the mathematical formulation of the problem.

Schedule next Monday (30th of May)

The talk is at 13:00. We'd love it if you want to join us for lunch at 12:30.

Length of the talk will be +/- 45 minutes.

Parking

There is free parking nearby: https://goo.gl/maps/z4iQATgozPJ2After parking your car, on the exit (inside a Mall) go left, left again (you will exit the Mall). It's the tall building called "Torenhove" on your right hand side (19th floor).

Alternatively you can also reach the reception not exiting the Mall:

From the parking garage on the 1st floor go behind the elevator into the shopping mall. Stay left along the escalator. If you walk straight ahead there on the 1st floor, doors will open and using the winding staircase you should reach the reception of Torenhove.
