Work with others to build something amazing!
This fun, beginner-friendly event is your chance to team up and put your new tech skills into action. You’ll work in small groups to create a project based on a theme — with guidance and encouragement from mentors.

This workshop runs from 10 am to 4 pm both days.

Places are limited, so please book your spot in advance here.

Who is this for?
Adults aged 18-35 who have basic experience with programming.

Hackathon Theme:
The theme for this event is "Creations of Chaos". Digital tools are something we all use in our day-to-day lives. It could be a calculator, a calendar, a to-do list, social media application... But for this Hackathon, we want to flip the script and make something truly chaotic! Over two days, we want you to create a digital tool in which nothing works quite as you expect. How you interpret this is entirely up to you!

There will be prizes for the best submissions:
1st place: £100 in Amazon vouchers
2nd place: £50 in Amazon vouchers

We'll also be providing refreshments and a hot lunch each day.

You don't need extensive coding experience, but you need to be confident using a computer, browsing the internet and saving files.

Hackathons are perfect events for increasing your experience with code/group work, and adding to your CV to show off to potential employers. MadLab also offers 1:1 bespoke CV support to anyone who attends our workshops if you wish to pursue a career in tech.

What do I need to bring?
A laptop or alternative device to work on. If you do not have access to a laptop, please let us know on the sign-up form, and we can provide one for you to use.

Cost
This event is free to attend. We charge a £5 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email office@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.
