6.5 km walk in Abcoude with Utrecht Hiking Community
Details
Join us for a delightful 6.5 km walk starting and ending at Abcoude Station and enjoy a peaceful mix of nature, history, and village charm - perfect for all who love to explore at a relaxed pace.
Our route begins with a serene stroll around the picturesque Abcoudemeer, where tranquil waters and scenic views set the perfect tone for the day. From there, we follow the meandering Angstel River, passing through the charming village of Abcoude, before reaching the historic Fort bij Abcoude. This fort is part of the renowned Stelling van Amsterdam, a UNESCO World Heritage site, though it is currently closed for renovations.
Do you think about joining, but you're not sure if it's something for you? Let us explain. Utrecht Hiking Community aims to organise one hike per month in or around Utrecht. If you're in for a hike with a bunch of friendly other hiking enthusiasts, you're very welcome to join, no matter whether you're an expat, local, nomad, student, professional, beginner, alone or with friends. The hikes are a way to meet people while being active and going to places you otherwise might not be going to. We call this 'Social Hiking'. If your aim is to hike fast, we might not be the right hiking group for you though.
We're organising this event together with UR-Glocal.
Please try to arrive to Abcoude train station on time. If you're late due to unforeseen circumstances, please write on WhatsApp to +31621177691. We can't keep the whole group waiting for you, but we can send you our live location so you can try to catch up with us.
At Abcoude train station there are no toilets, so please use a restroom before you arrive.
Please wear good shoes for this walk. Although most of the route will be on paved paths, there are also a few unpaved sections that might be a bit muddy.
Dogs are allowed on this hike, but need to be kept on a leash during several parts of the route.
For those coming by car, please be aware that all parking places near Abcoude train station are in a 'blue zone', where you may park for a maximum of 2 hours. Probably that's just enough time, if you arrive just before 10.30 and go to your car immediately after the hike.
Unfortunately this time I can't stay in Abcoude after the hike to go for a lunch there, due to other obligations later during the day. Of course you're free to go for a lunch in Abcoude by yourself.
Participation in the hike is free of charge, but as we do make some costs in organising (MeetUp subscription, transport costs), donations are very welcome. If you'd like to support us, you can do that via this link: https://www.ing.nl/payreq/m/?trxid=2uZBljmCPG6LbC1u9e3W0cBzwsKAaYdE
