Filmmaking workshop

For those who aspire to be filmmakers, this workshop gives you a head start as you learn how to plan, direct, shoot and edit a short film.
This intensive weekly worshop is a full-time dynamic and immersive course which covers the core screen crafts such as screenwriting,camera work, editing, directing actors and pre-producing.
The course culminates in the pre-production of a short film that you’ll create in collaboration with your classmates.

Class 1
SCREENWRITING

• The functions of a screenplay
• Film structures: linear and non linear.
• Scene, sequence and Act
• The 3 acts structure: Inciting incident. Plot points and Climax.
• The Script format
• Practicum. Screenwriting exercise

Class 2
CINEMATOGRAPHY

• The Shot: Fundamentals
• The shot elements
• Shot sizes: Open shots vs Closed shots
• Shot angles
• Camera movement: Pan. Tilt. Dolly. Tracking

Class 3
EDITING I

• Editing fundamentals
• Basic editing tools
• Editing types: Continuity editing. Ideologic editing
• The cut: Elements.
• Practicum: Editing exercise

Class 4
EDITING II

• Tempo and Rhythm
• Long take vs short take
• Techniques: Cut in movement. Smash cut. Match cut.Cut away.
• Cross cutting. Jump cuts. L cut and J cut
• Editing dialogues: Overlapping
• Practicum: Editing exercise

Class 5
DIRECTING ACTORS

• The Actor/Director relationship
• The 1st reading: Zone Zero.
• Quick tips to improve Actors perfomances before and after the take

Instructor
Ezequiel Rubin
Born in Argentina in1977. He works as Producer/ Script Consultant and Filmmaking Teacher. He has collaborated for several projects from Spain, Argentina Italy and Canada, working for companies such as Tve, Factotum, Rai Cinema, Tv3, Met Films and MediaPro.Founder of Cinelab, film school based in Barcelona, provides Screenwriting, Filmmaking courses and coaching for Writers, Actors and Directors.
