TNO Groningen is involved a number of projects in which large scale sensoring and large scale data processing play an important role. Examples are lifesize dike failure experiments (IJkdijk), a network of 300 high-end accelerometers to monitor building vibrations in the earthquake area Groningen and the monitoring of livestock.

Recently a number of organizations and companies has set up the OSSG (Open Seismic Sensorgrid Groningen). TNO has run a project together with the OSSG and the municipality of Groningen in the second half of 2015, which includes a feasibility plan to deploy a dense grid of 10.000 low cost sensors in Groningen for seismological studies. TNO will present the results of this study and will outline the role of Spark in the implementation of seismological algorithms.

Jeroen Vlek Senior Big Data Engineer from Anchormen will talk about the Lambda Architecture and its applications. Jeroen will show how Lambda & Spark facilitate realtime analytical capabilities on unstructured large scale datasets.

Speaker 3 IBM

Willem Hendriks Big Data analist from IBM, will present an interactive Spark analysis with TNO data. So get familiar with Basic spark concepts, by analysing a TNO dataset about cars driving over the dutch A13 highway.
