Agenda
---------
Talk #1: An introduction to Click Fraud by Vikram Ghotgalkar, CTO, MeetSoda.com
Summary: Searchers and social media users are inventory for online advertisers. With more than 90% of revenue coming from advertising, we are the main product that companies like Google and Facebook sell. Recently advertisers have been complaining about a lack in inventory or inventory becoming too expensive. One of the reasons people attribute to this phenomenon is click fraud. Click fraud is a type of fraud that occurs on Pay-per-click mediums are “attacked” by automated scripts or human beings who imitate interest. The dangers of click fraud will affect almost the entire online population. It causes a false increase in inventory, hence more advertisers are buying and we see more ads. Companies like Google and Facebook who provide users a free service by selling PPC ads are facing billions of dollars in loss. Eventually online advertising becomes expensive which has an effect on the products we buy.
In this basic discussion. We aim to:
- Introduce click fraud as a concept.
- Talk about click fraud as a threat.
- Understand who is responsible for click fraud.
- Look at solutions to detect and prevent click fraud.
