We are so used to darkness that we don't know what to do with the light. People sometimes say that they feel most lonely when they are around other people. We may be surrounded by kindness and love, but not know what to do with it. Enlightenment - the central concept in many spiritual traditions - is similar: right under our nose but seemingly out of reach. But do we really need Enlightenment? Why not just focus on self-improvement - making ourselves a bit better every day? In this Philosophy Salon, we will look at whether Enlightenment is real or just an outdated concept. Are we actually blind? And what do we need to see?
