"Perfect Knowledge is Illumination" - True or False? (Philosophy)

Details

Tonight's meeting is on Jim Burns' book, "At Home With The Inner Self". We are covering the seventh, eight, and ninth chapters "Philosophy, Mysticism and The Other Side", Q and A with Jim Burns 2006 and Biography.

Dan's meetings run on the first and the third Sunday of each month. The meetings are discussion style, where everyone gives feedback on their impressions from the book and how they inspire, grate upon, motivate, or generally stand up to your own convictions on what is true.

Here is a link to the book on amazon where you can purchase the book on kindle or paperback: At Home with the Inner Self: Amazon.co.uk: Burns, Jim: 9780979963070: Books

Here are some highlights that stood out for me:

Chapter: Philosophy, Mysticism, and The Other Side

  • “Scholastic philosophers make psychologists look like healthy men. They put out pure garbage devoid of any capacity to experience meaning”.
  • “Everything but philosophy is child's play”.
  • “The great danger of the written and spoken word is that you will ingest conclusions without the pain of the growth”.
  • “A great problem is the fear involved in realising that you don't know anything”.
  • “The most overwhelming experience I had was the knowing of my Overself that occurred to me in my middle teens”.

Q & A with Jim Burns 2006:

  • Learn to go to sleep very slowly. Don't break from consciousness to sleep consciousness. That is how I learned. I stumbled on that.... Talk about the grace of God.
  • “Well, once you learn how to go to the edge of consciousness and sit there you will find that information comes is key in perfection to what you were dealing with whether you know it or not at that moment. The secret to that is realising that the machine within makes no mistakes”.
  • “I was consumed by the light, and I became a spirit body and went from the light from the building I was in, to the other side. When I got there I met Jesus. He asked me something but I can't remember exactly what. But his response was that I was like everyone else who went there feeling that everything that went wrong was my fault. He said you didn't have perfect knowledge and without it none of it was your fault”.
  • “Perfect knowledge is illumination”.

Biography:

  • “In the 1960s, an astute psychiatrist became impressed with Jim's intelligence, imagination, and verbal skills. Hoping that Jim would find companionship among like-minded intuitive people, he referred him to an organisation called the A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment, founded by America's “sleeping prophet” Edgar Cayce), and Jim became its enthusiastic member for over ten years”.
