Polars Meetup #1

Details

On April 3, 2025, the first official Polars Meetup will take place in Amsterdam. This hybrid event welcomes both in-person attendees and online participants via a live-streamed recording with a Q&A session.

We kick off our first meetup with a technical talk by Orson Peters, a core developer at Polars, who will introduce the new streaming engine. Orson will discuss how the engine operates and the improvements it brings over the original streaming engine.

The second talk is a community talk by Thijs Nieuwdorp and Jeroen Janssens, the authors of the Python Polars: The Definitive Guide. In this talk, they share their experience of converting a substantial data processing codebase from pandas to Polars. They’ll discuss the motivations behind the switch, the challenges faced during the transition, and the significant performance gains they observed.

After the talks, there is time for drinks during which you can meet and talk to other Polars users.
