- ONLINE - Dissecting PETS Series, Part 1: Conclave Cloud

Welcome to the first meet-up of the Dissecting PETS series!

During this series we will introduce you to different PETS (Privacy Enhancing Technologies) and will examine them from a technical perspective. In this way we will learn about their pros, cons and their different use cases applicability.

In this first part of the series we have Conclave Cloud introducing us their new platform:

About Conclave Cloud:
Conclave Cloud allows you to easily build and deploy privacy-preserving applications using Confidential Computing to protect the integrity and privacy of code and data. It allows you to bring together a number of different microservices in a managed environment, allowing you to easily host and scale applications whilst ensuring your data is always encrypted - even during processing.
During this talk Roy and Ivar will show us how Conclave Cloud takes advantage of Confidential Computing platforms such as Intel SGX to ensure the integrity and privacy of users' data as well as providing hardware-backed assurances over the exact code that will be processing the data.

Speakers bio:
Roy Hopkins is a Principal Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in software development. He has devoted the last 14 years to cybersecurity specializing in enterprise data protection and encryption, with a strong focus on using hardware such as TPMs and trusted execution environments such as Intel SGX to harden security. Roy has been at R3 for 2 years where he leads the development team for Conclave Cloud - the R3 privacy preserving platform-as-a-service.

Ivar Wiersma is an effective change leader, builder, and operator with 20+ years’ experience in capital markets, banking, technology, and venture building. Prior to joining R3 and leading the Conclave team, Ivar started ING Wholesale Banking's Innovation department and led Blockchain and Advanced Analytics teams. Co-founded ING Labs, responsible for a number of company launches and spin-outs such as VAKT, Komgo, Cobase, Stemly, Katana Labs, Suburbia and CoorpID as well as consortia projects such as Marco Polo and Voltron. Ivar has been a builder, operator, advisor, investor and board member for start-ups and has served 3 years on the R3 board, prior to joining the firm as head of Venture Development. Currently Ivar is part of R3’s management team leading the company’s Confidential Computing business Conclave.
