**Greetings Everyone** \- Join us this Sunday for an adventure as we hike from Sanding Fortress to Cheongju University\. A mixture of Korean culture and forest walking\. We will also stop for refreshments afterwards at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Cheongju\.

Duration: About 3-4 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 10-12 km.
Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.

● **Post-Hike Gathering (Optional):** After our adventure, you're welcome to join us for some well-deserved relaxation and camaraderie at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Cheongju

08:45 - Good time to meet at Starbucks
09:00 - Catch the bus to Cheongju Sports Center, then change to bus 862.
09:45 - Arrive at Sangdang Fortress - Time for coffee and some food
10:00 - Introductions and Hike Starts
11:30 - Stop for lunch (bring some water and food)

14:00 - Arrive Cheongju University, walk to National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Cheongju.

14:30 - 15:30 - Have refreshments (Optional)
16:30 - Arrive back at Intercity Bus Terminal (Approx)

Walk around the lake from the last bus stop to the fortress, along the wall and then into the forest and walk down towards the Cheongju University.

Greetings Everyone - June 2026 we will be visiting Ireland. The plan is to do The Burren Way, which has the very famous Cliffs of Moher and the more remote Western Way.

We would get public transport between the two walks and look to reduce the length - more thoughts required.

This is a heads up notice, the plan is to give people options around the Portuguese walk - you can do Korea, Portugal and Ireland. One or some.

● Some words to inspire you:
Exploring Ireland's Burren Way and the Western Way offers an enchanting journey through some of the country’s most breathtaking landscapes, rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage.

**The Burren Way**: The Burren Way, a 123-kilometer trail, winds through the stunning limestone landscapes of the Burren in County Clare. Starting in the coastal town of Lahinch, the trail meanders through quaint villages, ancient archaeological sites, and unique karst formations. Hikers will be captivated by the region’s distinctive flora and fauna, where Mediterranean, Arctic, and Alpine plants grow side by side. Highlights include the Cliffs of Moher, offering dramatic views over the Atlantic Ocean, and the Burren National Park, home to a myriad of wildflowers and historical sites. The route passes through the charming village of Doolin, known for its traditional Irish music, and ends in Corrofin, a gateway to the Burren.

**The Western Way**: The Western Way is a longer trail, extending approximately 250 kilometers from Oughterard in County Galway to Ballycastle in County Mayo. This trail showcases Ireland’s rugged west coast, featuring diverse landscapes such as the Maumturk and Partry Mountains, expansive boglands, and the serene shores of Lough Corrib and Lough Mask. Along the way, hikers encounter remote villages, ancient monastic sites, and striking geological features. Highlights include the Inagh Valley, with its scenic beauty, and the peaceful trails through Connemara National Park. The route culminates in the picturesque town of Ballycastle, known for its stunning coastal scenery and rich history.

Both the Burren Way and the Western Way provide an immersive experience of Ireland’s natural splendor and cultural richness. Whether traversing the rugged terrain of the Burren or the majestic landscapes of the Western Way, hikers are rewarded with unforgettable views, a deep sense of history, and the warm hospitality of the local communities. These trails are ideal for those seeking adventure, tranquility, and a profound connection with Ireland’s unique landscapes.

A deposit of $250 will be required shortly and $150 per month to pay for all the hotels in advance.

Hotels will be pre-booked 2 or 3 star.
