**ABOUT OUR PRESENTATION:**

Join us for a panel of experts and women who have personal experience with mental health. Mental Health ***IS*** health. It is such a critical topic, and can be life or death, yet it is still such treated as a taboo topic in many spaces.

She Goes High is changing that. Our founder, Chrysta Bairre, has been vocal, vulnerable, and raw as she shares her personal experience with mental health, and we are bringing you a panel of experts and everyday women who have personal experience with mental health to openly discuss and answer questions you may have about this topic.

**Ashleigh Jones (she/her), Training Director Yarrow Collective**

Ashleigh Jones (she/her) is Yarrow Collective’s Training Director and a co-founder. Ashleigh has lived in Fort Collins for the past 13 years. She is the mother of 2 wonderful children that are the joy of her life. Ashleigh has lived experience with life interrupting substance use, childhood trauma, eating disorders, self-harm and is a suicide attempt survivor. She also has lived experience with both the foster care system and the criminal justice system. Ashleigh has been a peer support worker for over 5 years. She is now one of the Training directors and family support advocates for Yarrow Collective . During her time as a peer worker, she has found her voice as an advocate and an activist. Ashleigh is passionate about peer support in its truest form: the beautiful connection between folks who are struggling and those who have had similar lived experiences.

**Sarah Joseph (she/her), Hope Roots**

I have experience in helping clients develop a mind-body connection - learning how stress, trauma, and emotions are felt and held in the body. My approach allows the client freedom to explore how their nervous system has adapted to handle trauma and stress throughout their lifetime. This awareness leads to healing and helps facilitate trauma reprocessing. I use EMDR therapy to help clients process the residual imprints of trauma that often cause anxiety, depression, anger issues, and chronic health problems.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling. I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Colorado. I am trained in EMDR therapy and trauma-sensitive yoga, and I am pursuing training in Neurofeedback Therapy and Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy. My main clinical interests are in trauma therapy, group therapy, relational-cultural theory, attachment-focused therapy, parts work, yoga & mindfulness interventions, Neurofeedback, neuro-counseling, psychodrama, grief, anger, and stress-related illness.

At a retreat in India in 2005, a lecture on ahimsa (non-violence) sparked an interest in yoga philosophy and mental health. I later became trained in trauma-sensitive yoga, which ignited my lifelong interest in psychology and counseling into a desire to become a professional trauma therapist. I have lived in rural ranching communities in Wyoming, downtown San Francisco, and North India. This diverse experience means that I am comfortable relating with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. I believe that spirituality can help clients make meaning of their pain and find resources for life-long healing and growth. I can provide therapy in English and/or in Hindi.

I am based in Northern Colorado but I spent over 10 years of my adult life living and working in India. I am the founder and board chair of Hope Roots. Since relocating to Colorado in 2019, I also work as the project coordinator for the Northern Colorado Human Trafficking Symposium.

**ABOUT OUR LOCATION:**

We are located in Old Town Fort Collins, west of College. Free parking is available. Depending on where you park, you can stay for 2 hours or without a time limit. Handicap parking is available right next to the building. There are wide sidewalks leading to the building and wheelchair accessible ramps on the sidewalks. The entrance of the building is level with the sidewalks.

Inside the space, you can find us in the boardroom. Once you come into the building it is the big room with the double doors between the two hallways. The space is set up with long tables in a circle. There are regular height chairs with soft backs and seats positioned on the outside of the circle at the table. As you go towards the back of the room, you’ll find a window that connects the kitchen to the boardroom. You can get complimentary coffee and tea by moving through the open doorway to the kitchen.

Restrooms can be accessed by continuing to the back, past the kitchen. Once you can’t go back anymore, turn to the left, and bathrooms are on the right. They have doors that push open. There is 1 ADA accessible toilet and 1 non-ADA accessible toilet.

Let's gather together, create connections, and see what's being experienced around a certain topic. You're probably not the only one feeling the way you feel... and you don't have to go through it alone.

**ABOUT OUR HOST:**

Jessica Lucey became a yoga teacher in 2017 to give people a little oasis of time and connection where you can relax, explore movement, choose what you do with your body, and have permission to make "mistakes". She is constantly learning and finding ways to make yoga accessible, applicable to life off the mat, and fun.

Her training focuses on teaching older adults, adapting practice for folks with limited flexibility, providing yoga wellness education, preventing burnout, and supporting people through menstrual cycles and menopause. You can expect classes that are vinyasa based with functional movement linked with breath. You’re invited to get curious about what’s actually going on inside your body and play. When Jessica’s not teaching, you can find her exploring the outdoors, traveling around the world, or relaxing with a cup of tea and her journal.

**ABOUT OUR LOCATION:**

Jessica's house is in a neighborhood in Fort Collins. There is free street parking with no time limit.

The space is not ADA accessible. This is a bi-level home where you walk onto a landing and have to go down the stairs. Bathrooms are located both upstairs and downstairs for your use.

The home yoga studio has different options for seating

* sitting on the floor with the support of blocks, bolsters, or blankets
* regular height chairs
* high top chairs
* if you'd like, you can bring your favorite portable chair

Food/snack options will include options for folx who are vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free. You'll welcome to bring a snack to share.

**EVENT FLOW:**

* Settle in (5 min)
* Welcome, state group expectations/agreements, introduce the topic (10 min)
* Introductions and group conversation (65 min). Our conversation is centered around a topic voted on prior to this event. We'll share what we're experiencing, allow for nuance, listen, and discuss things to explore or experiment with around our topic.
* Make specific connections (10 min). This is a time to get someone's contact info if you don't have it yet, set up one-on-one conversations, or catch up with a friend you haven't seen in a while.

**ABOUT OUR PRESENTATION:**

Have you or someone you know had to plan a funeral not knowing what the departed would’ve wanted? Do you have hard yeses or no’s around how (and by whom) you would like your own body cared for after you die? Do you know someone whose yeses and nos weren’t honored in death? Are you estranged from your family of origin and/or do you have concerns about who would be appointed as your default deathcare decision maker based on the state’s next-of-kin succession laws if you don’t have the proper paperwork in place?

Join us for this lunch and learn to:

-Explore Declarations of Disposition and why they matter in order to 1) maintain your bodily autonomy in death, 2) choose who gets a say, and 3) take both the guesswork and the potential for conflict out of decision making for the people you leave behind.

-Gain insight into some of the lesser known options available in Colorado like home funerals, water cremation, and composting.

**ABOUT OUR PRESENTER:**

Tawnya (she/her) is a death and grief worker who strives to lighten the load and brighten the road for those she serves. She works hard to make sure that individuals and communities know what’s available to them in the world of death and dying by advocating for choice. She is an emeritus board member of the National Home Funeral Alliance and co-authored the organization's Home Funerals Guidebook that teaches people how to be with and care for their departed themselves in the privacy of their own home or space. She also co-authored an end-of-life planning guide for the non-monogamy community.

As the founder of Dear Departures Tawnya has offerings as a death doula, life-cycle celebrant, and grief companion. At any given moment you might find her crafting a custom ceremony for a celebration-of-life, working on a legacy project with a dying person, leading a grief group for people who had a complicated relationship with the dead, or giving a community presentation like this one!

She balances the heaviness of her deathwork with, gardening, hiking, hot springs, laughter, and live music!
