Companies need to be flexible, develop and deploy at a pace that raises all kinds of challenges.
We are excited to announce the second Schiphol Tech Talk, on November 6th. In this meetup, organized by the Schiphol, we will zoom in on these challenges, the ones, we faced, that are ahead of us and challenges that experts at Praegus meets.
We will start the evening with some nice food. In the three tech talks we will talk about an upcoming project, a business case and a broader perspective on testing. We will talk about a migration of a Schiphol application and the testing challenges. Then we will share a business case on all aspects that impact an ambition to reduce time to market. The last talk is about what to test when you are on a tight schedule.

Schedule of the night will be as follows:
17:45 Doors open
18:00 Dinner served
18:45 First talk Alberto Rossotto & Arie van der Veek (Schiphol – Airport Services)

19:20 Second talk Michiel Rook - Continuous Delivery Coach (Schiphol – Digital Solutions Center)

19:55 Third talk Tom Heintzberger (Praegus)

Time to market in a migration project
Time to market problems are not an exclusive of brand new applications with fast release life cycles. In this talk we will show you how we modernise an old-fashioned mission-critical application, ensuring quality and business continuity, even if the deadline is really close.
Speaker: Alberto Rossotto & Arie van der Veek

Continuous deploying – a case study
Much has been written about the practices, patterns and principles behind Continuous Delivery. Applying them on a greenfield project is one thing, but what about on an existing application that’s serving significant numbers of customers - all while keeping the shop open for business? In this session I’ll share how the web development teams behind Schiphol.nl successfully transitioned from manual, bi-weekly releases to many fully automated and tested deployments per day, significantly reducing waste and increasing quality in the process.
Speaker: Michiel Rook - Continuous Delivery Coach

100% testing
We have reached a point where testing (still) takes up the majority of the time needed to get from development to a running application in the production environment, often regardless of what has been changed, or why.. This talk addresses this issue and how we think testers should cope with it. How can we leverage technologies like machine learning to augment our testing process, so that we can test exactly what we need to test, in order to assert the impact of a given change at a given time, thus speeding up the feedback loop and time to market? Do we really need all of our tests, all the time?
Speaker: Tom Heintzberger (Praegus)

How to get there: Schiphol Headquarter, Evert van de beekstraat 202
By public transport: Get off at Schiphol Train Station and take buss (Schiphol Cirkel lijn, every 5 minutes)
and get off at ‘Schiphol hoofdgebouw’. From there it is a 200 meter walk towards the Schiphol Head Quarte
By Car: You can park at your own costs at P12 (across the base). There is limited parking space.
