Helping expats adopt the Dutch working culture

As a Scrum Master, have you been in a situation where you needed to explain the Dutch way of working to your foreign colleagues? Or perhaps you’ve struggled with it yourself, when you moved and started working in the Netherlands?

In this session, we’d like to combine all our great minds and talk about how Scrum Masters, Engineering Managers, HR colleagues and anybody else can help those still getting used to the Dutch working norms and values.
We’ll discuss how the Netherlands differs from other countries and what’s needed to bridge the gap to avoid cultural misunderstandings. We will even throw some theory in there somewhere!

Your guides for this day will be Anita Kalmane-Boot & Erik de Bos, who both bring a diverse cultural background with them.
Anita is a double citizen of Latvia & the Netherlands and has lived in four European countries ranging from north to south and calls herself a European instead of belonging to one specific nation.
Erik de Bos is a double citizen of the Netherlands & Colombia but feels he is mostly Spanish, having grown up there before moving to the Sultanate of Oman for his teens, and finally arriving in the Netherlands in his 20's.
