## The Art of the Sentence: Make your writing more rhythmic

Some writing pulls you forward effortlessly. Other writing, even if technically decent… doesn't. The key to doing more of the first and less of the second? Sentence craft.

A good writer knows how to write a decent sentence. But a great writer can lift words off the page and lodge them in a reader's brain. Their words can tickle the imagination and send shivers up their spine.

And so, in this workshop, we'll learn how to take sentences apart and put them back together so they work like a well-oiled bicycle wheel.

### What You'll Experience

You'll learn what makes individual sentences strong — how to cut flab, choose verbs that land, and tighten construction without losing your voice.

Then we'll break down the importance of variety. We'll look at how writers use short sentences for punch and long ones for drift and indulgence. We'll see when you might use each one.

Finally, we'll look at what happens when sentences work together. You'll take a flat paragraph from your own work and get to work making it more rhythmic, more emotive, more powerful.

### Who This Is For

Writers working on fiction, memoir, essays, emails that need to land — anything where words matter. If you put sentences on a page, this session will make you better at the process.

### What You'll Leave With

You'll leave with a sharper ear for rhythm and a deeper appreciation for what makes sentences work. You'll hear the difference between writing that drags and writing that flows — in your own work and everything you read.
