The Dutch Clojure meetup

Details

New month, new clojure meetup. At least that's what we've done in the past 128 months! For the episode no. 129, we have a full agenda with not one but two talks, how about that?

As per the past few meetups, we'll meet online once again. If you are reading this from your desktop, the confcall link is on your right ---->

⚠️ WARNING ⚠️

We'll record the meetup and publish the recordings online for anyone to watch, joining the call is an implicit acknowledgement that you are completely fine with it.

⚠️ WARNING ⚠️

Here's what will keep our eyes stuck on the screen for the evening:

------------------------- Our Agenda -------------------------

  • 19:00 ℹ️ Welcome and introduction
  • 19:15 🧾 Lucio D'Alessandro "FORMS: Let's take back control"
  • 20:00 🖥️ Vlad Protsenko "Bringing Clojure to the Desktop"
  • 20:45 🥂 Chit chats and improptu content (aka bring your own cool topic)

------------------------- Our talks -------------------------

👉🏼 FORMS: Let's take back control

From basic to complex UI form components, this presentation will explore the benefits of using Fork, a composable, adaptable, and decoupled Clojurescript library. The discussion will mainly focus on the relevance and power of code control and reusability

👉🏼 Bringing Clojure to the Desktop

cljfx brings the declarative and reactive concepts of react, re-frame and reagent from the web to the desktop. Its an exciting alternative to building desktop apps that draws inspiration from the ease-of-use of Electron and combines it with the performance of JavaFX, all in Clojure

------------------------- Our speakers -------------------------

👉🏼 Lucio D'Alessandro

Two years ago, I was given the opportunity to join JUXT and learn about Clojure for the first time. Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to work on a variety of interesting as well as challenging greenfield projects that taught me the best practices concerning functional programming, web development, and security. Today, I am still a Juxter, leading the frontend development and design of my team. I am also the author of a number of ClojureScript libraries, including Fork, a form management tool

👉🏼 Vlad Protsenko

Vlad likes creating systems that are a joy to interact with, be it games, tools, or TTRPG adventures. After studying to be a designer, he then found his passion to be a software developer, though he kept his craving for a beautiful UI.
