About submitting a proposal to the C++ standards committee

Many thanks to Niels Dekker and Martin Moene! We have a good excuse to Meetup again, because they kindly offered to both share their experience on submitting a proposal to the C++ Standards Committee. This will be done in two presentations of each about 30 to 45 minutes.

C++ standardisation.

Speakers
Niels Dekker is a scientific programmer at LKEB, the Division of Image Processing of the Leiden University Medical Center. His main application domain is in the field of intravascular imaging. His job involves image analysis and visualization, using C++ libraries like ITK and VTK, as well as GUI design, in both Qt and MFC. He likes to get the best out of static code analysis, as well as compiler optimizations for high performance.

Martin Moene is an electronics engineer turned programmer, who mostly works on software for scanning probe microscopy for experimental research in physics at Universiteit Leiden. He likes simple, expressive code, but faces a different daily reality. Found fellow programmers in accu.org, a British organisation that long predates Meetup(s).

Location

Thanks to Optiver for providing a location for the Meetup!

The address is: Atrium Building, 2nd floor, Strawinskylaan 3095, Amsterdam.

Google maps link here: https://goo.gl/maps/q9WsKf3pynn

Options to get there via public transport:

Trainstation Amsterdam Zuid is the closest (i.e. only 2 minutes away). Exit Zuid Station on the North side (where the WTC is), immediately turn left past StarBucks, and just walk along past the parking garage on your left (go past the boom barriers) and enter the building. Optiver is on the 2nd floor.

Directions from Amsterdam CS: http://9292.nl/reisadvies/station-amsterdam-centraal/amsterdam_strawinskylaan/aankomst/2016-03-17T1858

Please note that due to construction work the Atrium Building is only accessible via Zuidplein (not via Parnassusweg).

Meetup Thursday 21st of April* "Lightning Talks!":

Unrelated to this Meetup I just wanted to suggest doing a Lightning talks-Meetup the 21st of April (a Thursday as well). Lightning talks are kind of really short presentations. More info here: https://www.meetup.com/The-Dutch-Cpp-Group/messages/boards/thread/49658824/#129006667

So if you would like to prepare something that would be nice! (* might become 12th of May)
