Celebrate the beauty of cherry blossoms and Japanese culture at the Wereldmuseum with a day of food, music, workshops, and more at our Hanami Festival.

It's spring! It's Hanami time! In Japan, people go out during this period, while enjoying good food and drinks, to admire the beauty of the Sakura, the cherry blossom. They call this Hanami. It is also a time to reflect on the transience of life, because the flowering time is beautiful, but short.

Dear friends,

We will meet outside the entrance to the museum at 12.15pm to collect a picnic blanket and try some Japanese lunch from the food market (for those that would like to or you can bring your own lunch). No entrance to museum required.

If you wish to join the Talk | 425 years of trade relations between Japan and the Netherlands between 13.30-14.00pm in the main hall inside the museum (max 125 persons) then you will need purchase a ticket to enter the museum or you can enter for free if you own a museum card. Or if you wish to join the HANAMI: Lecture and demonstration - a sprinkled sigh of cherry blossoms between 14.30-15.15pm in the main hall of the museum (max 125 persons) then you will need purchase a ticket to enter the museum or you can enter for free if you own a museum card. I recommend to purchase tickets and to register in advance as the numbers are limited.
