Experience how writing opens up when you're not carrying it alone, in the company of peers.

The Casual Café is the lightest edition of The Unwriting Café: a freeform unwriting session where nobody writes and everything gets written. A simple one hour gathering where we don’t steer the writing, correct it, or try to be the writer.

What happens in the Casual Café?
• A one hour freeform unwriting session
• A short popcorn-style check in
• Then we unwrite together
• No instruction, no input, no reading aloud
• Writing unfolds on its own rather than being pushed

What is unwriting?
As soon as we try to be good writers, we interrupt ourselves. In unwriting, the writer steps aside and the writing appears more naturally, with less effort.

Who joins?
Writers of any kind: books, articles, essays, social posts, fiction, non-fiction. Your project doesn’t matter. The approach does.

Who facilitates the session?
Youri Hermes, author of The Art of Unwriting.

Why are RSVPs low on Meetup?
Most people join through other channels. Gatherings usually have 5 to 10 people.
