Recent research from Anthropic and Redwood Research has shown that "reward hacking" is more than just a nuisance: it can be a seed for broader misalignment.
Evgenii Opryshko explores how models that learn to exploit vulnerabilities in coding environments can generalize to concerning capabilities, such as unprompted alignment faking and cooperating with malicious actors.

ESL Practice and Support
St. Timothy's is excited to offer support to newcomers in Canada. Our goal is to provide conversational language practice through informal instruction and feedback, alongside emotional and practical assistance.
We invite all new immigrants, English language students, visitors to Canada, parents of children temporarily attending schools in Toronto, foreign university students, and anyone looking to enhance their language skills. We aim to build a welcoming community where friendships can flourish, help participants establish meaningful connections, learn about life in Toronto, and access practical resources like resume and interview preparation, shopping tips, and guidance on setting up home services or navigating government offices.
We will host a reading group and a career mentoring group every other Tuesday at 10 AM. Our conversation group will take place every Tuesday from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, featuring both large and small group discussions on topics such as current events, cultural exchange, and media stories. The small groups will include a mix of language learners and volunteers who provide gentle feedback. Participants will receive grammatical structures and vocabulary lists related to each topic to guide their conversations and enhance their language learning experience.

Let's Boost our 2026 By Our Expanding Psychic Abilities at 2 pm and 10 pm online
**Harness the Magic, the Practicality of your Sixth Sense for 2026**
We are all psychic; it’s not a gift for just “special people”.
We use our extrasensory perceptions daily, such as from having inner knowings about people to receiving a feeling to make a certain purchase or business decision at a certain time.
Join this free meet up to see how your intuition works for you and how to expand it.
Also, covered in this event:
• increasing inner harmony
• learning about the reality of spirit guides or master souls that back us, and how to communicate with them
• seeing how stress and pressure undermine our intuitive nature, and how to minimize these pressures in life
**Drawing upon Experiences and Life Lessons**
This meet up will include attendees from meet ups in other locations. (We've teamed up with others!)
The facilitators of the meet ups have years of experience leading talks, workshops and courses on these topics, and have shared about them in regular media interviews in Canada, the US and Europe.
They have used this ability to better their own lives, and enjoy passing along this knowledge to others.
This meet up is being held at these times:
Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 at 2 pm,
then at 10 pm and
then Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 8 pm.
Here are the links to register for the events. Once registered you will be emailed a link to attend.

🎬Movie: 28 Years Later: The Bome Temple - Food & Drinks after the movie 🍿!
🎬 Let’s Go to the Movies (and Actually Talk… or Not)
Whether you're a film nerd, popcorn enthusiast, or just looking for a chill night out with interesting people — this one's for you.
We’re heading out to see a movie together, then grabbing food or drinks after. If the film's great (or terrible), we’ll probably talk about it forever. If it’s just okay, we’ll talk about it for 10 minutes and move on to everything else — books, dating apps, weird dreams, how Toronto keeps getting more expensive, etc.
The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and not too serious. No film degree needed. No icebreakers. No pressure to “perform.” Just come enjoy the film, connect with some thoughtful people, and see where the night goes Click here to watch trailer!
🎞️ **Movie Title + Trailer:** [[Click here to watch trailer!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOwTdTZA8D8)]
📖 **📖 Plot Summary:** In a continuation of the epic story, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) finds himself in a shocking new relationship - with consequences that could change the world as they know it - and Spike's (Alfie Williams) encounter with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell) becomes a nightmare he can't escape. In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival - the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and much more terrifying.

**Presentation Title:**
**Privacy Components That Should Actually Matter to Development Teams**
Many teams expect that privacy is taken care of by the company’s security program or addressed by the legal and compliance teams. Fact is, privacy is often lagging behind security when it comes to software development, and there are still obligations that need to make their way into the lifecycle. And, in many cases, devs never even see the obligations that exist on paper to clients!
In each business function of Governance, Design, Implementation, Verification, and Operations, there are privacy considerations that need to be made. The earlier you can get these considerations locked in, the more time it saves you later when there’s an incident, a user exercising their rights, or simply scaling up!

**This is a hybrid event!** You're welcome to join us online or in person. Thanks again to our wonderful sponsors at **Security Compass** for hosting us!
