Wat we doen
Improv Utrecht is the international community for improvisation theatre and comedy.
We offer:
- Free* drop-in lessons on Fridays (except school holidays)
- Improv courses for students of all levels of abilities.
- Corporate training for team building, introduction week and learning events. We cover themes such as:
- Laughing & learning mindset
- Dealing with Change
- Failure fitness
- Creative thinking in the 21st century.
- Improv shows for all to enjoy!

Drop in
*Free = Pay What You Thought It Was Worth. Suggested donation: €10-20. We appreciate that some can offer more than others, you are always welcome no matter what you can share. We use the donations for the rent of the training room and for the guest trainers who dedicate their Friday evening.
We come together on Fridays to play improv theatre in English. We are internationals (expats, students) and Dutch people who like to play in English. All levels are welcome. We play games that you may know from"Whose line is it anyway?" and "De Lama's" alongside some more serious improv scenes too.

Have you always wanted to know how to keep a scene exciting, how to play a believable character, or how to build a story as a group that truly sticks? In Improv Sitcom, we dive into every aspect of improv acting – with one clear goal: performing a fully improvised sitcom.
Throughout this course, we’ll take small, manageable steps to develop:
Storylines and tension arcsCharacter development
Playing with themes
Text awareness and reducing noise
Building toward semi long-form scenes
The classes follow a clear structure, so consistent attendance is key to growing together toward the final performance.

Iwan Dam is a highly sought-after improvisation actor with experience on both stage and screen. He’s been teaching improv for years, with an open and playful style focused on technique and growth. Iwan studied at the Academy of Performing Arts (Kleinkunstacademie), the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, and learned from well know Dutch artists. He played in (youth) theatre, musicals, tv, improv comedy group Op Sterk Water, and does improv comedy shows at corporate events.

We have no lesson in the autumn school holiday. Musical lesson on the 23rd of September. The show date is probably Sunday 14 December in Villa Concordia.
