⛰️ The Dutch Mountains - Stage 18 Rondje Limburg (24 km) ⛰️

The Veluwe Power Hikers go south! We will go on an international hike along the Dutch-Belgian border to enjoy a scenery not often seen in the the Netherlands; mountains!

Of course, these are only mountains by Dutch standards, but don't be fooled! This 24 km hike also includes 450m of elevation difference, so this hike will give us a neat challenge.

This hike is also the final stage of 'Rondje Limburg', a long distance hiking trail circling the province of (Dutch) Limburg. While they saved the best for last, we will jump straight ahead to some of the best views Limburg has to offer.

📍 When and Where to Meet?
We’ll meet at 11:00 am at Maastricht train station (central). From there, we will take the 11:15 bus (line 57) to bus stop Julianastraat in Epen, where we'll arrive at 12:00 to start our hike. Be sure to be on time in order to catch the bus!

🏁 Finish – Eijsden train station
After 24 kilometers, we’ll finish the hike at Eijsden train station. From there, you can take either a train or a bus back to Maastricht train station. Both train and bus go once per hour, at xx:32 (train) and xx:52 (bus).

🚗 Coming by car
If you prefer to come by car, I recommend to park at Eijsden train station, and travel to Maastricht station from there. Parking at Eijsden train station is free, and your car will be there for you at the finish! Be sure to be on time in case finding a parking spot proves to be difficult.

⏸️ Breaks
9 km - Restaurant de Plankerhoeve: We will have a lunch break here. Bring your own food in case the place is closed/full.
17 km – Café de Wandelaar: A short snack/coffee break

• This hike is at your own risk. Please ensure you have appropriate insurance coverage for outdoor activities.
• If your Meetup name is different from your payment account name, please add a note with your Meetup name so I can easily match them.
• Cancellations are fully refundable up to 1 week before the event (This is Friday 6 June at 23h59). After this period, the fee becomes non-refundable.
• Bring food and/or snacks for during the hike.
• Bring at least 2 liter of water for drinking along the way.
• The hike will only be canceled in case of extreme weather, such as strong storms.
• If you plan to bring a companion, please ensure that they are also registered for the hike.
