🍂😈 Demonic Pancake Hike: 23 km Ooij Polder & Duivelsberg 😈🍂

Let’s welcome autumn with an unforgettable 23 km adventure! We’ll follow the Streekpad Nijmegen from the historic Sint-Nicolaaskapel in Nijmegen, crossing the wide-open fields of the Ooijpolder before climbing into the rolling hills of the Duivelsberg (Devil's Mountain).

This forested nature reserve Duivelsberg near the German border is full of legends and mystery—enchanted “witches’ wells,” ancient stories, and magical colors all around. 🌲✨

Halfway, we’ll recharge at the famous pancake house “De Duivelsberg” (🥞🔥 yes, their flambé pancakes are delicious!) before looping back via the forested hills to Nijmegen.

We’ll meet at the Sint Nicolaaskapel at 12h30. We’ll start shortly afterwards! Please be on time, as we don't wait for latecomers.

👟 Good to know

• No lunch break at the start of the hike: please make sure you’ve had something to eat and are well-energized before we begin. But leave some room for pancakes!
• Restaurant note: There might be a waiting line since they don’t take reservations on this day — but no worries, the pancakes will taste even better after the wait! 🥞😋
• Refund policy: Cancellations are fully refundable up to 1 week before the event (This is Friday 26 September at 23h59). After this period, the fee becomes non-refundable.
• Please only make the payment if you are on the participant list. Payments from the waiting list do not result in participation and will be refunded.
• Hike difficulty: Our hikes are moderately challenging. Please only join if you’re confident you can keep up with the group’s pace (5 km/ h)— it’s more fun for everyone when we can walk together without long waits.
• If the pace is too challenging: We may kindly suggest you continue at your own pace. We’ll give you clear directions to the nearest bus or train so you can return comfortably.
• At your own risk: You participate at your own risk, so please make sure you have appropriate insurance coverage for outdoor activities.
• Payment note: With Tikkie we only see initials (e.g., J. Doe instead of John Doe). Please include your Meetup name in the payment note so we can match it easily.
• Friends joining: If you bring a friend, make sure they also register and pay.
• What to bring: Snacks, lunch, and 1–2 liters of water (depending on the hike distance).
