TEXT FROM ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

Since we installed the iBeacon Mile and implemented the worlds first public LoRaWAN gateway and network we have been very busy expanding the mile for SAIL2015 effectively making it 12.4 km long and the largest IoT Living Lab in the world- thanks to YOU our members and our partners!

Thanks to Peter Michell of AmsterdamLive a great Appsterdamer for making this video for the Grand Opening July 23

During and after SAIL Aug. 19-23 we will have published the iBeacon Mile APP (keep a look out for it in the Apple App Store mid-Aug) and hope to further extend the Mile for UitMarkt from Amsterdam Central Station (negotiations under way with NS for inside CS) to the Museumplein and Vondelpark. The LoRaWAN network, LoRa enabled sense beacons or IoT beacons as we are now calling them and the V2 beacons are being deployed rapidly across the city thanks to our partners at JC Deceaux and KPN.

By the time we hold this next Meetup we will have a lot of progress to report but not only about Apps and the growth of the Living Lab but also a good amount of DATA and usage - real progress with quantifiable results. We will discuss what the network means, how it can be used to make Amsterdam and it's citizens more involved and how we can, together, create interactive applications that make the City a better place to live and it's people engaged in meaningful ways.

We will not only report and update but we will also introduce the steering committee in an open forum so we can have a constructive and collaborative dialogue about the future of the Living Lab. We will talk about Phase II and getting ready for the European Presidency hosted here in Amsterdam starting January 2016 and the opportunities to showcase innovation around the city and at the ever growing and always exciting Marineterrein- now home of Amsterdam Smart Cities.

For us, all this is very exciting so join us! and help make the Amsterdam iBeacon Living Lab a success.

Hope to see a lot of familiar faces- many thanks.

P
