Talk 1: Joe Paladin: Building a Java White box AI Trading System
Most professional trading systems are black box, and they need to be considering the complexity and speed of todays currency markets. Even so, it is possible to keep up using computer systems that are much faster compared to what was available when online trading started decades ago.
Back then, it was only possible to render market data as time quantized bars, which limits the demands placed on the system to whatever the minimum time interval is set to. This platform is not time limited, it renders and analyzes market data parsing all price changes, even if these changes happen in a small number of milli seconds.
Find out how we did it, with Apache NetBeans!
Talk 2: Kaya Weers: A Design Pattern Goes to the Supermarket
Everybody knows the term design patterns. Some know the patterns and correct implementation by heart. Others vaguely recognize the pattern names but don’t recall the details. This talk is intended for the latter group.
I’ll dive into a couple of design patterns using real-life examples. What would a design pattern look like in day-to-day life? We’ll follow Bobby and Billie and discover how a design pattern would behave in a non-digital environment: a supermarket! With the help of drawings and code snippets, this talk will give you a solid understanding of design patterns, so you won't have to look them up ever again!
Talk 3: Sonnya Dellarosa: Transforming Customer Onboarding at Mollie: Our Automation Journey with Temporal
A couple of years ago, Mollie started its transition from a PHP monolith to a dynamic, Java-based services ecosystem, introducing Temporal to orchestrate. This is changing how engineers build features at Mollie, with Temporal reducing the hassle of orchestration.
At Mollie, Temporal workflows lie at the heart of our system architecture within the Onboarding domain, improving software fault tolerance and making business process development intuitive, thanks to its ability to help us map our business processes directly to code with an almost 1:1 mapping.
This is our journey, from implementing a single workflow to rebuilding our entire onboarding process with multiple concurrent workflows, sometimes long-running flows, improving efficiency and productivity for both our development and operational teams.
Talk 4: Marianne Hoornenborg: Debugging the Mind: Sharpen Your Problem Solving Skills
Whether you're building the next big feature, optimizing performance, or squashing that stubborn bug, problem solving is at the heart of our profession. But coding is just one part of the equation—navigating challenges within your team and project is equally crucial.
So when was the last time you consciously applied problem-solving techniques? Do you ever find your mind needs debugging in order to be effective? It’s time to sharpen your problem-solving skills and take them to the next level!
