For decades, Emilia has been one of the most misunderstood wine regions in Italy.

Long associated with high yields and large-scale production, its enormous potential was often overshadowed by quantity over quality.

But in recent years, a quiet revolution has been taking place.
Thanks to new generations of producers, careful vineyard work and a renewed focus on terroir, Emilia is now producing outstanding sparkling, frizzante and still wines, capable of surprising even the most experienced wine lovers.

For Tell Me Wine #11, we’ll dive into this rediscovery, exploring the many faces of one of Italy’s most exciting comeback regions.

### The tasting

We’ll taste 9 wines from Cinque Campi, one of Emilia’s absolute benchmarks for quality and identity.
Our journey will cover the full spectrum of the region:

  • Classic Lambrusco in its most authentic expressions
  • Indigenous white varieties such as Spergola and Trebbiano
  • Traditional frizzante wines
  • Metodo Classico sparkling wines
  • Aromatic expressions like Malvasia and Moscato Giallo

All coming from vineyards located in the first hills of the Reggiano
Apennines, where ancient soils, old vines and meticulous farming create wines of vibrancy, depth and strong personality.

### The producer — Cinque Campi

Located in Puianello di Quattro Castella, Cinque Campi works with historic vineyards planted between 1948 and today, including a 120-year-old vineyard producing tiny quantities of exceptional fruit.
Their philosophy is based on curiosity, experimentation and respect for the natural balance of the land, combining tradition with biodynamic-inspired practices.
The result: pure, expressive wines that tell the true story of Emilia.

### More than just wine

As always, the tasting will be paired with carefully selected regional snacks, celebrating Emilia’s extraordinary food culture — one of the richest and most beloved in Italy.
Expect iconic local products, presented in a way that enhances the wines and gives a true taste of the region’s gastronomic soul.
