Ladies, let’s make the most of the King’s Day holiday without the chaotic crowds of the Netherlands. Let's head to the majestic Rheingau region in Germany for a weekend of vineyard walks and historic wine taverns. We'll leave Saturday morning, April 25th, and return Monday evening, April 27th—leveraging our day off.
It's Riesling wine and we're going to the source. This wine is the noble, volcanic-soil Riesling that put Germany on the map. You can do a pub crawl or visit the nearby sites or do both. Your choice but you will hang out with other ladies and have fun either way.
Proposed Itinerary: Saturday: The Venue Crawl: Arrive in Rüdesheim mid-afternoon and hit the Drosselgasse with live music and historic wine taverns. Perfect for a social venue-hopping evening. Sunday: Views & Vineyards: Take a scenic cable car over the vineyards to the Niederwald Monument and then a gentle walk down the hills to Geisenheim for lunch at Schloss Johannisberg (the "Balcony of the Rheingau"). Monday Explore the quiet, elegant rose gardens of Eltville before catching our afternoon train home.
The Logistics (Value & Comfort)
Accommodations: The shortlist is Hotel Clement, Hotel Zum Bären. I picked Gasthof Krancher because it has a sauna on top of its great quality.
Budget: Approx. €160 (Includes return train from Den Haag + 2 nights hotel with double occupancy. Single Occupancy of course costs more.
Flexibility: Most hotels offer free cancellation so make your own arrangements for now. And if you buy the (Super) Spaarpreis DB train ticket now, Use Spaarpreis so you can cancel for 10 euros. Otherwise the normal train ticket will be twice the price.
