Geografiets | Social Bike Tours
Discover the hidden sides of Amsterdam and beyond, one route at a time.

What is Geografiets? These are not your average tourist-trap bike rides. Geografiets is a community of cycling enthusiasts and expats looking for relaxed, social rides (usually between 20 and 60 km). Expect a friendly pace, great conversations, and discovering hidden gems most tourists never see!

How it works: To organize more frequent rides and explore new horizons, Geografiets works with a unique concept starting July 2nd, 2026:

The Route Architect: As a geography teacher, I (Ronnie) work behind the scenes to custom-design the perfect cycling routes. I provide our hosts with a ready-to-go .gpx route, a custom Google Maps link (loaded with cafes, toilets, and POIs), and a geographical fact sheet about the area.
The Ride Captains: The rides themselves are led by our own enthusiastic group members! To ensure safety and a cozy social atmosphere on the road, group sizes scale with the number of hosts: 10 people for 1 Ride Captain, 20 people for 2 Ride Captains, and a maximum of 30 people if there are 3 Ride Captains.
Want to host? If you want to lead a ride, just pick a date, distance, and location, and I will prepare the entire package for you. As a thank-you, you get VIP status (no membership fees for all following years) and you get to keep 100% of the tips!

Costs:

Yearly Membership: To cover the MeetUp organization costs and prevent no-shows, there is a small membership fee of $6 per year. This gives you unlimited free access to all regular rides!
Tips: If you enjoyed a ride, you can give a voluntary tip to your Ride Captain after the trip.
Special Editions: I will still personally organize fully-catered, all-inclusive 'Specials' (like the Tulip Tour in April or Marken & Volendam in June). These are single-fee day trips where almost everything is taken care of.

Who I am: Hi, I’m Ronnie! Born in Hoorn, I now live in the heart of Amsterdam. By day, I’m a geography teacher. Naturally, I love cycling and taking on (very) long rides. In 2019, I biked to Italy, and in 2022, I completed a personal challenge: cycling through all 344 municipalities in the Netherlands. Currently, I’m working on my PostNL challenge, collecting all 4-digit postal code areas by bike.
While I won't be cycling along with every single regular ride anymore, my passion is baked into every route you take. And of course, you'll see me at the Specials!
