Dark green pole walk of Natural Monuments over the nature reserve Brunssummerheide along the Koffiepoel and around the Roode Beek.
It is a beautiful walk over the heath, quicksand and through the woods to various highlights of the nature reserve. The walking route starts at information point and restaurant “Schrieversheide” and runs to various highlights of the Brunssummerheide.
In the middle of the forest is Lake Koffiepoel, with some beautiful picnic areas by the water, we can stop there to take a break. You can bring snacks and drinks to enjoy in the break time.
The route runs around the Roode Beek, a small river loved by hikers because of the natural splendour around the water. In the middle of the heathlands are some burial mounds and archeological monument the Landgraaf, a mediaeval defensive ditch. The route also runs to the sand quarry. The sand that is extracted here is used for the glass industry.
The hiking level is medium with some small hills to climb and the length is 13,2 km. The duration of the hike is (3-3:30) hours, We finish the hiking around 2:30pm at the information point and restaurant schrieversheide, at this point we would have finished our day but for whoever wants to join, we will enter the restaurant where we can order a cup of coffee while enjoying the view from there and take some rest after the hike.
