Walking meditations on Tao Te Ching
Details
Dear friends
During this event we will concentrate on verses from chapter 31 of Tao Te Ching. We will reflect together this chapter and then will go for a 20 minute walking meditation in the park!!
Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu is a chinese classical text with 81 verses of wisdom. Though Tao Te Ching has been interpreted subjectively according to who is reading it, for a seeker on the path of wisdom it is a wonderful and precise guide to the process of becoming an enlightened being, to accomplish, within oneself, a high level of spiritual cultivation.
Verse 31 of Tao Te Ching
"Weapons are inauspicious things;
all living beings hate them.
Those who align themselves with Tao
turn away from them.
The follower of Tao
gives favor to the left (yin) side.
The followers of war
give favor to the right (yang) side.
Weapons are inauspicious things
and the wise person only uses them
when there is no other way.
They do not see beauty in weapons.
They do not exalt in killing.
Those who exalt in killing
will never achieve themselves.
Victories in battle
should not be celebrated with joy.
Instead they should be celebrated with sorrow.
This is why a great victory
should be followed by funeral rites."
Welcome to a beautiful reflection and walking meditation experience!
