As soon as one sees any imagination in a realistic representation, one calls this surrealism, fantastic realism or magic realism. Eddy Stevens and Caroline Westerhout are artists who, despite the use of unrealistic elements, do not fit directly into one of these boxes. Perhaps 'experimental realists' is a better term for them because they focus on the experiment: not only in terms of form and content, but also in terms of technology.
