🌳Moerputten & Vughterheide (20km)
Details
This 20km loop hike starting from 's-Hertogenbosch central station will take us through two distinct nature reserves. First we'll make our way through the Moerputten, a marsh area where an old railway bridge now serves as a bridge for hikers. Second we'll walk through heather and forest in the Vughterheide, a place rich with history.
To the immediate west of the Vughterheide lies Kamp Vught, a concentration camp from WWII that now serves as a monument/museum. In the Vughterheide itself three lunettes are located. These lunettes served as fortification of fort Isabella, build around 1600 to help protect the city of 's-Hertogenbosch. We will pass this fort on our way back to the train station.
🥾What’s the plan?
We’ll start at 's-Hertogenbosch central station, where the hike will also end after a 20km loop hike. We'll have one stop around 10 km once we find a good spot to have a ~30 min break. Be prepared, we'll keep a steady pace!
📍When and where to meet?
We’ll meet at 's-Hertogenbosch central station at the spoor 6/7 kiosk at 12:00 PM.
