AW #76 - Maximum impact, minimum effort - Gojko Adzic

Details

A big government IT project delivered two years ahead of schedule. A fraud detection initiative saving tens of millions more than predicted. An app that helped a city rebuild faster after a major disaster and save ten times more money than expected. Stories like this are very uncommon, even with all the advancements the software industry made in the last few decades.

The reason is that value for software projects is easy to describe in the long run, but it's difficult to translate to short-term objectives. "Increase market share" or "Double revenue" rarely come true in one week, and many teams struggle to define KPIs and objectives to track progress towards a larger goal.

In this talk, Gojko will present how very successful teams create big impacts and minimise effort, by defining and tracking objectives to focus delivery, restructure large initiatives and provide vision for their work. You'll get practical, actionable ideas that you can use immediately in your work.
