This watershed is spring fed and not runoff driven. Know your limits as you have to paddle back to the starting point. Upriver is shaded with overhanging trees and down is more open. Korshan has walking trails, pavilions, rest rooms, picnic areas and historical buildings to explore as well as the Launch area with kayaks and canoes to rent. Vehicles with boats on top are $5 and those with trailers are $9 with parking for both near the ramp. You can have up to 8 per vehicle, use the kiosk in the right lane for payment, cash in the envelope. SP rentals call 239-992-0311 or you can rent from Estero River Outfitters as well. I have seen manatee, gator, otter and birds here so bring your camera's. Lots of water and snacks. Down stream are sandy banks to pull out on for a rest and to splash a bit. Not a place for snorkeling so you do not need that gear. The steam river boats used to supply the Korshan Store so lets explore a little history and see what nature will share with us today.

Let's see what the Myakka Rookery looks like from Marina Park in North Port, FL. This is a longer paddle down the channel from the launch then upriver to the rookery island. Roughly 6 miles total unless you explore. After the rookery there are sandy banks to laze on and side channels to explore if you desire. Bring your safety gear the camera, lots of drinks even lunch for the sand bank. Chairs, sunscreen n bug stuff. Paddles dip at 8.30. I hear there's a potty now !

This is one of my favorite state parks to camp and kayak in. Lots of great paddles. Right now there are lots of campsites available, but they will not last. This is a high demand park. We will paddle each day (Monday through Thursday). The campground has water and electric hook ups at each campsite. Group camp fires each night.

We will be camping at Collier–Seminole State Park (20200 Tamiami Trl E, Naples, FL 34114) from January 17, 2027 through January 22, 2027. Reservations for the park for January 17, 2027 start at 8 AM on February 17, 2026 for Florida residents. We usually have campfires in the evening. We often have potluck dinners. We usually eat out at least once. Tenative paddles will be the Mud Lake Loop in the park, Turner River (or Halfway Creek) from US 41 to the Florida Bay, Rookery Bay Reserve, and the thousand islands from Everglade City.
