Maybe you moved to a new country and discovered life looked nothing like you imagined.
Maybe you took a job that led somewhere completely unexpected.
Maybe you went on a normal night out and ended up meeting someone who changed your life.
Maybe a mistake, a wrong turn, a missed opportunity, or a random decision created a story you never saw coming.

Maybe it was funny.
Like showing up somewhere you definitely weren’t supposed to be.
Saying yes to something you knew nothing about.
Or finding yourself in a situation where you thought:
"How did I end up here?"

Maybe it was difficult.
A relationship ending.
A dream falling apart.
A plan failing.
A chapter closing before you were ready.

Or maybe it was something beautiful you never could have planned:
A friendship.
A new home.
A new passion.
A completely different version of yourself.

Because sometimes the moments that derail our plans are the moments that shape us the most.

The best stories often begin with:
"This wasn't supposed to happen..."

Tonight, we celebrate the unexpected twists, the happy accidents, the wrong turns, and the moments when life took the wheel and brought us somewhere we never imagined.

## What is a Story Slam?

A Story Slam is a night of true, personal stories told live.

Funny, emotional, awkward, inspiring, or unforgettable—
stories that actually happened.

Each event has a theme that inspires the night.

Theme: THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE PLAN!

Story time: 5–7 minutes

# IMPORTANT FOR STORYTELLERS

Your story must:

✅ Be a real story (something that actually happened)
✅ Be told live (no reading)
✅ Clearly connect to the theme: THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE PLAN!

If it doesn't follow the theme or isn't a story, it won't be eligible for scoring.

# WANT TO TELL A STORY?

Here's how it works:

## DO

✅ Tell a real story—something that actually happened.
✅ Keep it between 5–7 minutes.
✅ If you go over, we'll flash a light.
✅ Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and end.
✅ Give us stakes—why should we care?
✅ Be honest. Be vulnerable. Be real.

## DON'T

❌ No essays, lectures, or philosophy speeches.
❌ No reading from notes or paper—speak from the heart.
❌ No complaining—shape it into a story with meaning.
❌ No stories that ignore the theme.

Audience judges give a score.

At the end of the night, we crown the Story Slam winner.
