Announcing next GoCracow meetup! We're thrilled to have Splunk a Cisco company as our host!
The meetup is going to take place in the new Splunk Kraków Office which is located in High 5ive FOUR, 2nd floor (Pawia 21, Kraków). We recommend entering the building from the northern entrance. Someone with Splunk badge should help you entering the office.
Agenda:
1. Registration and socializing [30 min; 17:30 - 18:00]
Register yourself at the office’s reception and print a badge with your name and photo. Please do not come at the last moment.
2. Aleksander Słomka, Go ❤️ WebAssembly: A Path to Safe and Portable Execution [45 min; 18:00 - 18:45]
After spending some time writing software in Go, it’s easy to get used
to some of its conveniences. Coming from a C/C++ background,
what stands out most is the simplicity of cross-compilation and the
strong guarantees around runtime safety.
But the moment your project needs to interact with a C shared library,
the dream of effortless cross-compilation evaporates. Suddenly, you’re
wrestling with toolchains and watching CI jobs fail on every target.
Not to mention the risk of "Undefined Behavior" polluting the Go runtime.
Is this the unavoidable fate of Go developers who rely on native libraries?
Not at all. That’s where WASM comes in, offering a safe and portable way
to embed and use shared libraries.
3. Snacks break [30 min; 18:45 - 19:15]
4. Andrzej Lichnerowicz, Scripting in Go [45 min; 19:15 - 20:00]
TBD
5. Lightning talks [15 min; 20:15 - 20:30]
We need you!
