Everyone knows that modern .NET projects need distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry is the tool of choice. But knowing what to use is very different from knowing how to use it right.
In this session, based on one of the services I developed, we will explore the path to proper instrumentation. How does OpenTelemetry actually work under the hood? How do we trace across asynchronous boundaries and multiple services? How can we set this up without breaking the bank on collecting and storing these traces? I will answer these questions and share the lessons I've learned along the way.
