Rafał Jończyk - Are Emotions Disembodied in a Second Language?
People often report feeling less intense emotions in their second language - as if the emotions were less embodied. Recent neurophysiological research provides growing evidence that this intuition may have a biological basis: emotional processing in a second language can leave weaker physiological traces. In this talk, I will explore what these findings tell us about the interplay between language, the body, and emotion in bi/multilingual contexts and what implications they may have for language learning.
Anton Renouf - Neuroeducation: Translating the language of the Nervous System for Better Learning Outcomes
Many of the factors that make up learning have traditionally been difficult to observe or measure directly. Neuroeducation explores how advances in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), digital twin models of the brain and wearable technologies can help us better understand the biological processes that shape learning. By combining these signals with AI-driven interpretation, we could gain new insights into how people learn, when they are most prepared to learn and how learning experiences can be personalized and improved.
