Details of the speakers:
- [ENG] The DARPA Triage Challenge and the Ethics of Algorithmic Decisions - Szymon Rusiecki - The sight of Trauma Team paramedics ignoring the wounded in Night City sparks immediate moral outrage. However, in the chaos of real-world mass casualty incidents, human senses and emotions often reach their limits. This is where the game ends and the DARPA Triage Challenge begins. During this presentation, we will explore how autonomous sensors and AI are set to revolutionize casualty triage. Can we develop technology that surpasses the efficiency of a human first responder without compromising our ethical values? Let’s find out how close we are to a world where your life might be decided by an algorithm.
About the speaker: Member of Team Chiron at Carnegie Mellon University, where he is responsible for the "Reasoning Layer", a system designed for the explainability of decisions made by robot swarms within the DARPA Triage Challenge. He also serves as the Head of the AI at AGH BIT Students' Research Group. In his free time, he runs, hikes in the mountains, and tries to finish his Master’s degree. Big fan of Formula 1 and sailing. - [ENG] Development of fitguardian - mechatronic mannequin. Stand-up comedy – Marcin Gałczyński. Funded by NCBIR in 2022, then called Morfer, the fitguardian was a fantastic idea to accelerate fashion warehouse measurement and photography processes for garment. Thanks to ideal size matching, it should help in massive reduction of rates of return in fashion business and warehouse processing cost reduction. This presentation showcases the ideas, issues and technical solutions behind the machine and it's current state of play. It's also a humorous tale about delivering such a government sponsored research project in Kraków, Poland.
About the speaker: Marcin Gałczyński is a passionate programmer and engineer, and a manager when the job calls for it. Never close to a master's degree, powering his success by incurable imagination, relentless experimentation, and a lot of hard work. Currently employed by Int4 AG, he leads a team of programmers developing Int4 Suite - the company's flagship tool focused on mass scale test automation for large enterprises.
